Jayne Trcka, Bodybuilder and ‘Scary Movie’ Actress, Dies at 62

Jayne Trcka, the pioneering bodybuilder and actress best remembered for her hilarious portrayal of the intimidating gym teacher Miss Mann in the 2000 comedy Scary Movie, has died at the age of 62.

Trcka passed away on December 12, 2025, at her home in San Diego, California. Her son confirmed the news to media outlets, stating that he was unaware of any pre-existing medical conditions or illnesses that might have contributed to her death. A close friend discovered her unresponsive in the kitchen after becoming concerned over several days of unanswered phone calls. The friend contacted authorities, and first responders pronounced her dead at the scene.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the death, noting evidence of trauma to the body. However, the official cause of death remains pending as the investigation continues.

Born on February 27, 1963, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Trcka moved to Southern California in 1986 and quickly immersed herself in weight training. By 1988, she was competing professionally in bodybuilding events during what many consider the golden era of the sport for women. She achieved notable success, including winning the California State Championships in 1997 at age 34. Trcka became a prominent figure in the fitness world, gracing the covers and pages of magazines such as Flex, MuscleMag International, and Women’s Physique World. She also worked as a personal trainer and, later in life, as a realtor in California.

Her transition to acting came in 2000 with her debut role in Scary Movie, directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans and starring Anna Faris. As the over-the-top, muscular Miss Mann at B.A. Corpse High School, Trcka delivered a memorable performance filled with physical comedy that became a fan favorite. The role opened doors to additional television appearances, including guest spots on The Drew Carey Show and Whose Line Is It Anyway?. She also appeared in projects like the music video for Lady Gaga and Beyoncé’s “Telephone” and the 2016 film The Bad Batch.

News of Trcka’s passing broke in early January 2026, prompting an outpouring of tributes from the fitness community and fans alike. Many highlighted her trailblazing role in women’s bodybuilding and her enduring impact on pop culture through her iconic Scary Movie character.

Trcka’s legacy as a symbol of strength, discipline, and humor lives on in both the worlds of bodybuilding and entertainment.
