FBI Director Kash Patel Announces Historic Training Seminar with UFC Fighters

In a groundbreaking collaboration between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), FBI Director Kash Patel has announced a first-of-its-kind training seminar where current and former UFC fighters will instruct FBI personnel at the agency’s Special Agent Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

The two-day exclusive event, described by Patel as “historic,” is scheduled for March 14 and 15, 2026. It targets new academy students—prospective special agents in training—as well as senior FBI staff from various locations worldwide. The sessions will focus on providing insights into the rigorous training regimens of elite UFC athletes, along with demonstrations of fighting techniques and tactical methods designed to enhance physical readiness and combat skills.

“I’m thrilled to announce this historic seminar between the FBI and the UFC at Quantico,” Patel stated in an official release. “This is a tremendous opportunity for our FBI agents to learn and train with some of the greatest athletes on earth — helping the world’s premier law enforcement agency be even better prepared to protect the American people.”

UFC CEO Dana White echoed the enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing the caliber of the participants. “Our UFC fighters are some of the baddest men and women on the planet and they are heading to Quantico to train the best FBI agents in mixed martial arts,” White said.

The lineup of participating fighters includes a roster of prominent names from the sport:

  • Interim UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje
  • Former UFC BMF champion Jorge Masvidal
  • Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman
  • Former UFC strawweight title challenger Claudia Gadelha
  • Former UFC lightweight title challenger Michael Chandler
  • Top UFC flyweight contender Manel Kape
  • MMA legend Renzo Gracie

UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard is also expected to contribute to the program.

The initiative builds on earlier discussions within the FBI about incorporating advanced martial arts and self-defense training to improve agent preparedness. Patel’s leadership has been characterized by innovative and high-profile approaches to modernizing the bureau, and this partnership aligns with that vision by drawing on the expertise of world-class combat athletes.

While supporters view the seminar as a creative step toward bolstering tactical capabilities through elite athletic training, the announcement has sparked varied reactions. Some media outlets and commentators have questioned its practicality for typical law enforcement scenarios, with discussions on programs like The View labeling it as unconventional or potentially more focused on spectacle than core operational needs.

As the event unfolds this weekend, it marks a unique intersection of professional sports and federal law enforcement, highlighting efforts to adapt cutting-edge physical training methods to the demands of protecting national security.
