Jay Leno, the former talk show host, has purchased a $13.5 million oceanfront mansion in Newport, Rhode Island, named Seafair.

This purchase was made in 2017 and is now notably significant as he plans to care for his wife Mavis, who is battling dementia. Jay Leno has filed for conservatorship over his wife’s estate amid her dementia diagnosis.
The Seafair estate, built in 1936, spans over nine acres and boasts a 15,861 square-foot main house that is designed to complement the curve of the coast. The property includes 12 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, a panelled library, formal dining room, and a chef’s kitchen. The grounds also feature a tennis court, an infinity-edge pool, a carriage cottage, a six-car garage, and private beaches. The mansion was previously listed for as much as $19 million before Leno’s purchase.
Leno’s decision to buy the mansion was quite spontaneous. He and his wife weren’t planning on moving back east but came across the house while exploring Ocean Avenue and decided to make an offer to buy the house as-is, fully furnished. They closed the deal in just 30 days.
This estate not only provides a serene and private setting for the Lenos but also has ample space for Jay Leno’s expansive car collection [❞] [❞].
