After suffering two painful miscarriages, Mary Davis and her husband Ari Kadin chose to channel their grief into something truly beautiful. In 2013, they founded Worthy of Love, a nonprofit in Los Angeles that throws monthly rooftop birthday parties for children experiencing homelessness.

What started as a small gathering for 15 kids has blossomed into vibrant, joy-filled events with over 200 young guests—complete with themes, games, music, cake, and laughter. For many of these children, it’s the first time they’ve felt truly seen, celebrated, and loved.

But their mission didn’t stop at birthdays. Mary and Ari also launched the Worthy of Love Bakery and Café, a social enterprise that trains and employs mothers facing homelessness—giving them a pathway to financial independence and a renewed sense of purpose.

Over the years, Worthy of Love has brought celebration and dignity to tens of thousands of children. And in a full-circle moment of grace, Mary and Ari welcomed a daughter of their own—celebrating her first birthday through the very same program they built to uplift others. 💛

Their story is proof that even in the deepest pain, love can grow — and transform lives.
