Patna/New Delhi — The political dynasty of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav is grappling with a severe internal crisis, as a family feud that began shortly after the recent assembly elections has escalated dramatically. Following public allegations of humiliation and assault by daughter Rohini Acharya, three more of the Yadav patriarch’s daughters have reportedly left Patna for Delhi, signaling a major fissure within the powerful family.
The drama, which has captured significant public attention, began immediately following a post-poll debacle meeting of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). This gathering quickly descended into a full-blown family confrontation.
Acharya Alleges Humiliation and Threats
At the heart of the initial controversy is Rohini Acharya, who took to social media and public platforms to detail her distressing experience. Acharya pointed fingers at two individuals said to be close aides of her brother, Tejashwi Yadav: Sanjay Yadav and Ramsevak Singh (Ramse).
Acharya alleged that she was threatened with abuses and even slippers inside her own home. In an emotional note, she spoke of the deep humiliation she endured, yet emphasized her refusal to compromise on her self-respect. She described leaving her maternal home in tears, walking away from her “crying parents and sisters.”
The accusations were stark, with Acharya later asserting that it was the two close aides who “threw her out of the family.” She demanded that questions be raised regarding the actions of these two men who are seen as being within Tejashwi Yadav’s inner circle.
The Widening Rift: Daughters Depart
The conflict has since moved beyond the accusations of a single family member. In a clear and profound indication that the rift is only widening, three of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s other daughters—Rohini Acharya’s sisters—have also departed from Patna and traveled to the national capital.
This exodus adds to the already tense atmosphere gripping the family, with reports suggesting the sisters have gathered in Delhi with their sister, Misa Bharti. For many observers, the synchronized departure of four of Lalu Yadav’s nine children sends a strong message that “all is not really well” within the family hierarchy.
The Focus on Tejashwi Yadav’s Aides
Central to the entire dispute are the two men named by Acharya: Sanjay Yadav and Ramse. The video report detailed their close ties to Tejashwi Yadav, which reportedly date back to his days in cricket.
Sanjay Yadav is described as a very close aide, often seen as a political advisor to Tejashwi Yadav. He currently serves as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha and has been previously associated with controversy, having been summoned by the CBI over a land scam case.
Ramse also shares a close history with Tejashwi Yadav from their time on the cricket field. While he comes from a politically influential family, he has a controversial past, including accusations of violence and arson in the 2021 Panchch polls.
Many believe these two individuals, who wield significant influence, are the sole reason for the intensifying split within the Yadav family. This sentiment echoes previous internal disagreements; Tej Pratap Yadav, Lalu’s elder son, had also previously referred to one of the aides as a junant (a minion or henchman) who was turning the family against each other.
Political and Familial Stakes
While the family drama unfolds, the political reins of the RJD largely remain with Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, who is widely considered the political heir of Lalu Prasad Yadav. This internal turbulence, therefore, poses not just a familial crisis but a significant threat to the unity and stability of the political party itself. The question looming over the family now is whether the personal schism will irrevocably alter the political trajectory of one of India’s most prominent political dynasties.
