Chuando Tan, the Singaporean photographer, former model, and social media phenomenon, continues to captivate the world with his remarkably youthful appearance. Born on March 3, 1966, he is currently 59 years old (turning 60 in March 2026), yet he consistently appears decades younger—often likened to someone in their late 20s or early 30s. His flawless skin, sculpted physique, and timeless style have made him a global symbol of empowered and graceful ageing.
Tan first rose to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s as one of Singapore’s most sought-after male models, gracing numerous fashion campaigns and editorials. He even ventured into Mandopop singing during that era. In the mid-1990s, he transitioned behind the camera, establishing himself as a highly respected fashion photographer. In 2006, he formed the successful duo Chuando & Frey with collaborator Frey Ow, producing iconic shoots for major publications like L’Officiel, Harper’s Bazaar, and Elle, as well as high-profile clients including Janet Jackson (for her 2008 album Discipline), Rita Ora, Shu Qi, and Angelababy. He also founded the modeling agency AVE Management, further solidifying his influence in the industry.
Tan’s unexpected second wave of fame arrived in 2017, when—already in his early 50s—his Instagram photos (@chuando_chuandoandfrey) went viral worldwide. Netizens were stunned by his ageless look, dubbing him the “man who never ages” or an “ageless heartthrob.” The attention propelled him into international headlines, with features in outlets like The New York Post and Daily Mail. He has since embraced acting as well, making his leading-man debut in the 2020 Disney+ drama Precious Is the Night, a Singapore-Taiwan co-production where he portrayed a 1960s doctor entangled in scandal.
What truly sets Chuando Tan apart is his straightforward, no-nonsense approach to maintaining his youthful vitality. He firmly rejects any notion of cosmetic surgeries, extreme biohacks, or miracle formulas, insisting that his appearance results from consistent, disciplined lifestyle habits. In numerous interviews, he sums up his philosophy simply: “70% is diet and 30% is exercise.”
His diet emphasizes clean, nutrient-dense whole foods with a strong focus on high protein and minimal processed items. A typical day might start with six eggs (often consuming just two yolks), milk, avocado, berries, or oatmeal enriched with honey and chia seeds. Lunch and dinner feature steamed or grilled lean proteins like chicken or fish, paired with rice, vegetables, and broth—always fresh and simply prepared. He avoids late-night eating, skips sugary or inflammatory foods, and prioritizes burning calories through activity rather than restrictive fads.
Exercise is a lifelong commitment: Tan trains regularly, about 90 minutes daily, incorporating strength training (such as compound movements like squats and lunges), cardiovascular work, and consistency since his twenties. He stresses the importance of quality sleep—heading to bed early (before 11 PM) and avoiding screens beforehand—along with hydration, low stress, positive relationships, and a simple skincare routine.
Chuando Tan’s story is more than just about looking young; it’s a testament to how disciplined habits, self-respect, and a balanced mindset can redefine ageing. As he reflects in interviews, time passes quickly, but vitality and confidence can endure—and even strengthen—with age. In an era obsessed with quick fixes, his grounded, sustainable approach offers genuine inspiration for anyone seeking to age with strength, style, and grace.
