What would you do to survive as an Isis hostage?
John Cantlie, the British photojournalist, was kidnapped in Syria in 2012 alongside his friend James Foley, who was last seen alive a decade ago during the peak of the battle of Mosul, where he disappeared after surviving four years as a hostage in the hands of Islamic State.
Cantlie left behind him a tangle of unanswered questions.
Many of those questions were answered in the Times investigative podcast Last Man Standing by journalists Anthony Loyd and Manveen Rana.
Building on their investigation, the BBC launched the three-part documentary series Hostage.
