Nike has officially revealed England’s new home and away kits for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing the collection as a celebration of everything that is “unapologetically English” in football.
The kits were launched on 20 March 2026, just months before the tournament co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The home shirt is expected to make its debut during England’s friendly against Uruguay on 27 March 2026.
Home Kit: Clean, Classic and Proud
The home kit returns to England’s traditional all-white look, featuring a crisp white shirt, shorts and socks. Subtle red accents appear on the curved side panels, while navy crew neck collar and sleeve cuffs are trimmed with white and red striping.
What sets the shirt apart is its sophisticated woven texture. Instead of printed graphics, Nike has engineered an intricate pattern directly into the Aero-FIT fabric using advanced textile technology. The design incorporates repeating motifs of Three Lions, Tudor roses, St George’s flags, stars, geometric shapes and diagonal lines — a subtle “if you know, you know” tribute to English football heritage.
A major highlight is the return of a gold star above the centrally placed Three Lions crest, symbolising England’s 1966 World Cup victory. This marks the first time in several years that the star has featured in this prominent position on a Nike England kit. Inside the collar, the phrase “Happy and Glorious” — taken from the British national anthem God Save the King — adds a quiet but confident patriotic touch.
The entire kit is made from 100% recycled textile waste using Nike’s advanced Aero-FIT material, which promises improved breathability and cooling during matches.
Away Kit: Bold Red with Heritage Details
The away kit is built around a deep red shirt paired with navy shorts. It shares the same woven textured pattern of lions, roses and geometric elements seen on the home shirt. The Three Lions crest is once again centrally positioned beneath the gold star, a placement not seen since around 2008.
White piping runs from the shoulders, while navy side panels and a pointed collar complete the look. Like the home kit, it is constructed from the same high-performance Aero-FIT fabric.
A blue goalkeeper kit featuring swirling tonal patterns was also unveiled alongside the outfield kits.
Design Philosophy
Speaking about the collection, Nike’s Senior Director of Global Apparel Design, Stuart McArthur, said:
“The men’s English National Team 2026 kit collection is a nod to all that is unapologetically English in Football. The approach when designing the kit was to capitalise on what is a traditionally well-mannered, humble English disposition and showcase its evolution into a federation that is bold and proud on the world’s stage. From the fabric iconography to the overarching colour story, the collection is made as a celebration of authentic, ‘if you know, you know’ English Football culture.”
The launch campaign included a video narrated by Mike Skinner of The Streets and featured several England players, including captain Harry Kane.
Notable changes from recent kits include the removal of the controversial purple elements from the St George’s Cross that appeared in the Euro 2024 kit, and the strong return to traditional English symbols and central crest placement.
The full 2026 kit collection, which forms part of Nike’s long-term partnership with the England national team through 2030, is expected to go on sale in the coming weeks through Nike stores and the official England shop.
Early feedback has been largely positive, with many fans and observers praising the kits for striking a confident balance between heritage, modernity and quiet national pride.
