Apple has rolled out a new update to its free Apple Sports app for iPhone, delivering three targeted enhancements that should please baseball and NASCAR fans while simplifying a key privacy and usability option for everyone.
The update, version 3.9, is now available on the App Store. According to release notes and reports from today (March 23, 2026), the changes focus on better pre-game information, easier race tracking, and more convenient controls.

- Probable Starting Pitchers for MLB
MLB fans can now see the probable starting pitcher for upcoming games directly in the app. This advance information helps users preview pitching matchups and plan their viewing or fantasy decisions without needing to check external sources. The feature arrives just in time for the 2026 MLB season. - Car Numbers Added to NASCAR Leaderboards
NASCAR coverage has been improved with the addition of driver and car numbers in leaderboards and standings.
