Mamata Banerjee herself suffered a shocking defeat in her traditional stronghold of Bhabanipore (Bhowanipore), losing to BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari.
For years, the stretch near Banerjee’s residence had been under tight security protocols due to her position as Chief Minister.
