Vijay’s 2022 Reflections on His Son
During the promotions of his 2022 film Beast, Vijay appeared in a Sun TV interview alongside director Nelson Dilipkumar. When asked about his son’s interest in acting, the actor-turned-leader emphasized respect for his children’s autonomy.
“I have no clue what’s in his mind,” Vijay said, highlighting that he never pressures his children. “I would never do that. It is completely his interest. If he feels he needs my support, I will support him. They have full freedom to choose. I don’t command them, saying they have to do this or that.”
He revealed that several filmmakers had approached him with offers for Jason Sanjay’s debut, but he always left the final decision to his son. “At the end of the day, it is his choice,” Vijay noted. According to him, Jason had once requested, “Please don’t disturb me for a couple of years. I don’t want this right now.”
Vijay also shared a specific instance involving director Alphonse Puthren (Premam), who narrated a script for Jason. Though Vijay personally liked the story and hoped his son would accept, he respected Jason’s refusal and conveyed the decision to the director.
The actor made it clear that whether his son chose to work in front of the camera or behind it, the decision rested solely with Jason. “Only he can decide,” Vijay said, adding that he would be happy either way.

These comments have resurfaced as reports suggest Jason Sanjay is currently pursuing studies in Canada and has a directorial debut in the pipeline. Sources also mention that he has reportedly unfollowed his father on Instagram and made subtle changes to his public profile amid the family issues.
