Elon Musk’s Blended Family Empire: 14 Children, Four Mothers, and a £27 Million Texas Commune

Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI, has often spoken publicly about the importance of high birth rates to combat what he calls a looming population collapse. His personal life reflects this philosophy in dramatic fashion. As of mid-2026, Musk has fathered at least 14 children (one of whom passed away in infancy) with four different women, creating one of the most unconventional and widely discussed modern family structures.

Musk’s Children Across Four Relationships

Musk’s first marriage to author Justine Wilson (2000–2008) produced six children:

  • Nevada Alexander Musk, born in 2002, who tragically died at 10 weeks old from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
  • Twins Vivian Jenna Wilson and Griffin Musk, born in 2004. Vivian has publicly distanced herself from her father.
  • Triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian Musk, born in 2006.

His relationship with musician Grimes (Claire Boucher, 2018–2022) resulted in three children:

  • X Æ A-Xii (born 2020), commonly known as “X”.
  • Exa Dark Sideræl (born 2021 via surrogate), nicknamed “Y”.
  • Techno Mechanicus (born around 2022), nicknamed “Tau”.

With Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis, Musk has four children through IVF and surrogacy:

  • Twins Strider Sekhar Sirius and Azure Astra Alice (born 2021).
  • Arcadia (born around 2024).
  • Seldon Lycurgus (born 2025).

Reports also link Musk to influencer Ashley St. Clair, with whom he shares one son, Romulus (born around 2024).

The children span from infants and toddlers to young adults in their early twenties. Musk has shared glimpses of family life, including photos with some of his kids at Starbase and other company sites, emphasizing their central role in his busy life.

The £27 Million Family Compound in Austin

Adding to the intrigue is Musk’s reported purchase of a sprawling family compound in Austin, Texas, valued at around $35 million (approximately £27 million). The property features a large 14,400-square-foot Tuscan-style mansion designed as a communal living space for several of his younger children and at least two of their mothers. An adjacent six-bedroom home forms part of the setup, while Musk maintains a separate nearby residence for his own stays when in Austin.

Sources describe the arrangement as an intentional effort to foster a blended family environment, allowing the children to grow up together despite Musk’s demanding schedule across multiple companies. Shivon Zilis and her children are said to have moved into the main property. Not all mothers are fully part of the commune, and the setup remains private and fluid.

This Austin compound is distinct from Musk’s more modest prefab-style home near SpaceX’s Starbase in Boca Chica, Texas, where he spends significant time, and from the broader Starbase community itself.

A Pronatalist Vision in Practice

Musk’s expansive family life often makes headlines due to its scale, the high-profile nature of the relationships, and occasional public challenges such as estrangement with certain children. He has described family as deeply important while juggling leadership roles that frequently take him between Texas, California, and beyond.

Whether viewed as a bold personal embodiment of his warnings about birth rates or simply a complex modern family, Musk’s approach continues to captivate public attention. Details may evolve with time, but the current picture underscores both his ambitious worldview and the realities of building a large family amid extraordinary professional demands.
