French Tourist Finds 7.46-Carat Diamond In US State Park
A French tourist, Julien Navas, made an extraordinary find at Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas, USA. He discovered a 7.46-carat diamond during his visit in January 2024. Navas, from Paris, had initially come to the U.S. to watch a rocket launch in Florida and then traveled to Arkansas, where he heard about the state park famous for its diamonds.
On January 11, Navas visited the park and rented a diamond hunting kit. Despite the muddy conditions following recent rain, he persevered in his search. By afternoon, he shifted his focus to scanning the surface of the ground, where he eventually found several interesting rocks, including the large diamond.
The diamond is described as round, deep chocolate brown, and about the size of a gumdrop candy. Navas named the diamond “Carine Diamond” after his fiancée and plans to have it split into two pieces for his fiancée and daughter. This find is notable as the fifth diamond registered at the park in 2024 and the largest since 2020. It’s also the eighth-largest diamond found in the park since it became a state park in 1972.
