๐ŸŒŸ Meghalaya Shines: Gold Medal for Thematic Presentation at IITF 2025



NEW DELHI, November 28, 2025 – The state of Meghalaya proudly secured the Gold Medal in the Thematic Presentation category at the 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025, held at the Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, in New Delhi. The prestigious award was announced during the fair’s closing ceremony, marking a major recognition of the state’s cultural richness and entrepreneurial drive.
The Award-Winning Pavilion
The Meghalaya Pavilion captivated visitors and judges alike, effectively showcasing the state’s theme through a vibrant display of heritage and industry. Inaugurated by Assembly Speaker Thomas A. Sangma, the pavilion served as a dynamic platform for local entrepreneurs and artisans.
The exhibit was a true celebration of the state’s potential, featuring a diverse range of products:

  • Handloom & Handicrafts: Exquisite woodcarvings and traditional pottery highlighted the craftsmanship of the local communities.
  • Food Processing: A wide array of spices, juices, jams, candies, chips, pickles, and various teas were on display, underscoring the growth of the state’s food and beverage sector.
  • Startup Ecosystem: Approximately 42 entrepreneurs participated, including those fostered by the PRIME (Promotion and Incubation of Market-Driven Enterprise) startup ecosystem and the Directorate of Food Processing.
    Gateway to the Northeast
    Beyond commerce, the Tourism Department provided a stunning photo exhibition that positioned Meghalaya as a premier destination. The visuals featured the state’s most iconic natural wonders, including its majestic waterfalls, mysterious caves, pristine clean rivers, and the world-famous living root bridges across the Khasi, Jaintia, and Garo Hills.
    The presentation successfully conveyed not just the scenic beauty but also the sustainable, community-driven spirit of Meghalaya.
    Recognising Excellence
    The Gold Medal win places Meghalaya at the forefront of states for its compelling and complete thematic showcase at the IITF. The competition for the coveted award was fierce, with other states also receiving high honours:
