Pentagon Releases Second Batch of Declassified UAP Files and First-Hand Testimony

Washington, D.C. – May 23, 2026 – The U.S. Department of War (Pentagon) on Friday, May 22, 2026, released its second major tranche of declassified documents, videos, and audio related to Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), commonly known as UFOs.

The release is part of the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE) initiative, launched following an executive order by President Donald Trump. The first batch was made public on May 8, 2026, and the materials are available on the official website: war.gov/UFO.

Details of the Second Release

The latest drop includes approximately 64 files: 51 videos, six PDFs, and seven audio recordings. These span decades and feature a mix of historical and more recent incidents.

Key highlights include:

  • Grainy infrared and sensor footage from military aircraft, including a 2022 formation of four UAPs over water near Iran and a Syrian UAP demonstrating “instant acceleration.”
  • Historical records such as reports of green orbs at Sandia Base in New Mexico (1948–1950), Apollo 12 audio from 1969, and a 1973 CIA report on a sighting in the USSR.
  • Over 40 videos specifically requested by lawmakers.

A standout element is the first-hand testimony from a senior U.S. intelligence officer in 2025. While investigating sightings from a military helicopter, he and his crew encountered oval-shaped, orange objects emitting light in a prolonged close encounter. The officer described the crew as left “virtually speechless.”

Official Assessment and Context

Pentagon officials and the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) emphasize that most UAP cases resolve to mundane explanations such as drones, balloons, birds, or sensor artifacts. While some incidents remain unexplained, there is no credible evidence of extraterrestrial technology or alien life.

The PURSUE program aims for greater government transparency, with additional tranches expected in the coming weeks. Since the site’s launch, war.gov/UFO has received over one billion visits, reflecting intense public interest.

This rolling declassification continues a broader push for openness on UAPs, though the released materials largely align with prior findings that show no national security threat from extraterrestrial sources in the documented cases.
