Ferrari Unveils Its First Fully Electric Car: The Luce

Italian luxury automaker Ferrari has officially revealed its first fully electric vehicle, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s history as it transitions toward electrification while preserving its performance heritage.

The car, named Luce (Italian for “light”), was unveiled on May 25, 2026, following a carefully staged rollout. Ferrari had previously shared technical platform details in late 2025 and an interior preview along with the name in February 2026.

A New Design Direction

Unlike Ferrari’s traditional two-door supercars, the Luce adopts a bold four-door, four-seater grand touring layout. This positions it more as a high-performance super-sedan or GT model rather than a pure sports car. The design emphasizes aerodynamics and sleek proportions, with a distinctive front end and flowing roofline.

The interior was developed in collaboration with Jony Ive’s LoveFrom studio (formerly of Apple). It features a minimalist yet luxurious cabin with a strong emphasis on physical controls, high-quality materials, and tactile feedback instead of relying heavily on touchscreens. Ferrari aims to maintain the emotional connection and driver engagement that the brand is known for, even in an electric powertrain.

Impressive Performance Specifications

The Luce is powered by four electric motors, delivering approximately 1,000 to 1,050 horsepower. It is expected to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0-100 km/h) in under 2.5 seconds, with a top speed of around 193 mph (310 km/h).

The vehicle uses an 800V electrical architecture for efficient fast charging (up to 350 kW) and houses a roughly 122 kWh battery pack. Ferrari targets a range of over 330 miles (530+ km) on the WLTP cycle. Advanced thermal management systems are incorporated to sustain performance during enthusiastic driving.

Additional highlights include innovative sound synthesis technology that enhances the driving experience through motor vibrations and sounds, along with a chassis featuring a high percentage of recycled aluminum for improved sustainability.

Pricing and Availability

The Ferrari Luce is expected to carry a starting price in the range of €500,000 to €600,000 (approximately $535,000 to $640,000), depending on specifications and options. Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in late 2026 in Europe and early 2027 in markets like the United States.

Market Reception

Initial reactions to the Luce have been mixed. Enthusiasts praise the ambitious performance targets, luxurious execution, and Ferrari’s commitment to maintaining driving dynamics in the EV era. However, some critics have described the styling as divisive, noting subtle influences from the design collaboration with Ive’s team.

Ferrari has emphasized that the Luce represents an expansion of its lineup rather than a replacement for its iconic combustion-engine models. The company continues to develop hybrid and internal combustion vehicles alongside its electric ambitions as part of a multi-energy future.

This launch underscores Ferrari’s strategy to evolve with the automotive industry while staying true to its core values of performance, emotion, and exclusivity. More details are available on Ferrari’s official website.
